GLOBE's Open Enrollment for the school year is conducted via the Lotterease platform.
A Student must be a DeKalb County resident in order to be considered for placement at The GLOBE Academy. The attendance zone for eligible applicants is any residence within the DeKalb County School District as determined by DeKalb County School District (DCSD).
In accordance with guidelines set forth by the Georgia Department of Education (SBOE Rule 160-4-9-.05), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grade applicants must meet proficiency standards in Spanish, French, or Mandarin Chinese (simplified) through the STAMP (Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) language assessment. The assessment evaluates your child’s current knowledge in one of our target languages, Mandarin, Spanish or French. Because students at the listed grade levels are expected to have prior experience in one of our target languages, there is no need to do any additional prepping prior to coming in for testing. However, it is recommended that prospective students take a sample test to gain an understanding of the exam and what will be required of him/her.
*Please be advised, prospective Kindergarten, 1st and 6th grade applicants are NOT required to take the STAMP Assessment.
Language track placement is assigned based on current enrolled sibling language track, family language history (heritage language/native language), and student immersion history. A student is then placed on a language track according to the number of spaces available, while creating a diverse classroom roster (gender, age, ethnicity and race). GLOBE prioritizes placement of heritage or native learners in their family language track. Language track assignments are final and cannot be changed.
