Although it feels like summer has just begun, we’re sure many of you are starting to think about the upcoming school year in August. We will keep you up to date on our preparations and decisions as they unfold in the coming weeks.
GLOBE’s leadership team is meeting weekly to review and discuss guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), and DeKalb County School District (DCSD) on school opening for SY20-21. Because many of our families have children attending both The GLOBE Academy and other DCSD schools, we intend to align our school opening plan with DCSD as much as possible.
Given the ongoing evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are actively preparing for all three scenarios: returning to school in-person, returning using a hybrid of in-person and online learning, and beginning the year fully online. We will share information with you as we learn more throughout the summer.
As we continue to monitor the latest guidance, we are focusing our efforts on preparing our buildings to receive students and staff and on preparing class schedules for all potential reopening scenarios. Building preparations include creating signage to promote social distancing and healthy practices as well as enacting heightened standards for cleaning and disinfecting.
Please continue to review our Weekly Reminders for updates on school opening for SY20-21.
